INFO + BIOGRAPHY

ARTIST STATEMENT:
At the very core of my work, I am reflecting upon my personal experiences; expanding my own curiosities and
sensibilities. Through my work I explore ideas that hold social, cultural, political, racial or aesthetic importance to me as a transnational African cosmopolitan operating in multiple cultural spaces. I am especially interested in a subset of matters concerning contemporary womanhood and facets of my own identity including: my transnational African experiences – my longings and motivations as a result, the dynamics of being polycultured, my possession of a physical ‘black female body and its relationship with society. My interest within it all is to interrogate notions that inform and shape my identity; using my body and experiences to frame and deliver the work.
